Major: Psychology (This Major's Salary over time)
One of the biggest problems with Cal Poly policy is that you MUST choose a major if you want to be accepted. This is a flawed policy no matter what perspective you take. Who honestly knows what career they want straight out of highschool. If you decide to switch majors, the steps are designed to prevent you from switching. It is quite difficult to switch.Another problem: the Psychology department has very little resources. It is relegated to the College of Liberal Arts, which because Cal Poly is a "polytechnic school" and liberal arts (including psychology) is not, we receive the scraps of what remains from other departments. If you want a major in any hard sciences, engineering, architecture, or business then this is a STRONG school to choose. Otherwise, it is best to look elsewhere. Happy shopping!
