BYU is a good school. May be not ranked in the top american schools, it is truly under-ranked by all means. The system works very differently and smoothly overall. Classes are competitive with everyone trying real hard to make it. If you are not a mormon don't be afraid of it at all unlike others who tell you to. All you gotta be is confident and upfront. If you do not like missionaries coming to you tell them poitely that you do not appreciate their presence. The library is great. TA's and faculty are pretty easily accessible except that individual differences vary. One problem is that on sundays everything on campus is closed since people go to church. The other thing is to be social. The more you interact with people the better. The school gets crowded during peak hours since everything is so close by. Off campus there are a lot of eating places like M, Burger K, Panda E, Wendy's etc and other better places. The best place to live is either west or south of campus cause those are the closest to most buildings. You got to be honest cause a lot of work is done on trust. If you are not then this is not the place for you. If you are not a mormon, then don't get into what mormons think cause they think a lot different in worldly matters are tend to be weird in their logic.Don't even compare University of Utah with BYU just cause it is close. BYU is comparable to UT Austin or UCLA at certain fields. So if you are a Utah type guy/gal you will fail at BYU cause stuff is pretty hard. Like for most classes to get an A you gotta get a 95+ which is ultra hard. Climate is pretty good, although in winters it gets pretty chilly. Does not snow much. Not much rain at all also.During finals it is a mess though cause too many students and barely any place to take exams. So that is pretty disorganized. Finally here is what I have to say: I am a really really ambitious person. Cannot settle for anything less than UT, A&M, MIT, UPenn etc. But BYU is a pretty good school at a good standard at a really good cost. Don't go for the cost part too much cause the education and its standard is what counts. So if you get into A&M and BYU then may be come to BYU is your fnance is of a lower profile, but if you get BYU and say Carnegie Mellon, UPenn, UT Austin, VTech etc then go to those. Overall my experience would be a 9/10.
