Major: Music Education (This Major's Salary over time)
I am a Music Education Major who started in 2004. My first two years were pretty amazing but then a few of the brilliant professors left and the arrogant professors have taken over the school of music. The new horn professor is a complete idiot, avoids students and is the spawn of evil! They changed some performance requirements on everybody so those who were close to graduating (myself) were set back by 3 semesters because they decided not to grandfather them in! The head of the school of music is almost destroying the entire school and I am looking for a way to transfer out!! I also wish many of the old, grumpy professors would realize its time to retire!The university outside of the school of music is pretty good. Most of the professors are nice, willing to help and the library has an endless amount of information about whatever you are looking for, if you know how to look. There is a good amount of school spirit on campus, though you will of course still see plenty of people rooting for the other state universities. No buildings are falling apart and they are kept up in good shape. The registrars office is the real inhuman machine on campus. If they treat you like you are an idiot, then welcome to the majority of the student body because they treat everybody that way. The DOR will try to bend you over on fines and fees if you try to do anything different than singing up for a room, meal plan and sitting tight. The night life is not exciting at all. Most of the town of Cedar Falls, including restaurants, close at 10PM. The bars stay open till two but they are dirty, boring and full of the stupid scanty girls who make everybody groan when they open their mouth and say something retarded. There is no "campus town" but rather "the hill" which is one street, going down a hill with a few bars, a gas station and a copy/print shop on it. UNI is also a suitcase campus because everybody leaves on friday, the campus is really quiet all weekend and then everybody magically appears again on sunday night/monday morning.
