Major: Math (This Major's Salary over time)
LSU, while it may have not been the best choice for me, was a fabulous university. The school is beautiful. The faculty of your specific department is helpful. Students are very friendly and open minded. There are tons of clubs that have tables in Free Speech Alley where students are encouraged to speak there mind and band together. The university even has free on site tutoring for math, physics, and sciences in addition to office hours.

A major complaint of current and former students is that they do not prepare you with connections for a job. That is untrue. There are 2 career fairs per semester that hire for all majors. I have a very specialized degree (Math - Actuarial Sciences) and I was able to find a job within 3 months of graduation. My job even uses my degree. People who have a hard time finding a job post graduation are typically uninformed due to their own faults. If they would spend less time hitting the bottle and more time talking to a professor or career services, then they would have a job too.

Assert yourself! That is the only way to put your mind and your degree to use. Jobs do not fall in your lap. you have to go looking for them.

Networking is also very important. Being in a fraternity or sorority is helpful, but not required. Greeks are friendly people. I was an independent and had many Greek friends. Everyone is friendly and you don't need to join fraternities or sororities to have friends or go to those parties. There is generally a party anywhere and anytime and anyone is welcome to join.
