Wheaton College

I chose Wheaton because of it's small tight-knit community that I thought I would really love and appreciate; however, after spending a year at Wheaton, I felt like I was trapped inside of a tiny bubble. The campus is all you basically have when you're there because there is absolutely NOTHING in the surrounding town, except woods that people get high in, and a CVS and Walgreens. No joke. True, Boston is only a car/train ride away, but the train is annoying and expensive, and it's hard to come back to cmapus on late nights because you have to coordinate your schedule with the campus bus shuttle's schedule (unless you have a car). And you usually only can go out on weekends, so during the weekdays you're stuck on campus the whole time.

The campus itself is nice, however. It has a quaint feel and the buildings are lovely, and the small size allows you to go to and fro in a matter of 5 minutes or so. But the food is gross.

I was an art major, and though the classes were nice and small and I loved my professors, their program and offers of different art classes weren't big enough for me to experiment, explore, and try new things. I wanted more than just 2 levels of photography courses, and then led straight to independent study. If you're an art history major though, I heard they have a better program.

Anyway, it's rural and small. If that fits you, then great because the people are friendly. Just make sure you have a car if you ever want to do anything fun because it gets pretty lame on campus.
