To the prospective student, if you are only interested in a good education Stonehill College will be perfect for you. The professors in my experience are on the average very friendly, and always willing to help you try and understand the material better. You really cannot do much better for value if your ONLY interested in an education. However, college is not all work and no play, regardless of what Stonehill would like you to believe. Everyone wants to have fun and between the lack of things to down in the surrounding town of Brockton and the lack of real fun things to do on campus Stonehill can feel restricting and isolating. Further, if your looking to party at all, even in the remotest sense be prepared to have your expectations of college parties shattered due to the schools resident life policies. There is a huge disconnect between students and the administration. Resident life here is awful at best. The schools drinking policies are also draconian and cause more problems than they solve for many students. Be prepared to spend anywhere from 2 days to 16 weeks off campus for your first infraction (has not occurred to me yet, but many people I know have already had this happen once, or more). College is not all about work, it is also about meeting people and experiencing the world in a new way. Stonehill's conservative social life is going to be unappealing to any person who wants to do more than sit at their desk and study 8 hours a day 7 days a week. For those who do decide to attend the school, you will find people here to hang out with. There are some jerks, but every place has those. On the whole the other students are friendly and easy to talk with. However, the school does have a slightly homogeneous background. It is not until you experience the school for about a year do you finally begin to get a feel for whether you truly like the school or not. Over a year later, I can comfortably say choosing this school has been a regretful decision.
