Major: Business - Management and Administration (This Major's Salary over time)
I'm a first time Freshman at MSU, from the DC area. I was admitted to Morgan during an on-site admissions program they held at my school; my grades weren't too terribly good, but my SATs were impressive and I was accepted in about five minutes. Although Morgan was extremely easy to get into, it's difficult balancing a full course load and an active campus/social life once you're here. Many teachers come off as arrogant, but after a few visits to there offices during office hours with legitimate questions pertaining to work, they'll warm up to you. Financial aid is horrible, however! I was given the run around several times before my paper work was straightened out, and even then my mother and sister had to sit in Montebello for a few hours. I am paying for college by myself and have no credit history or cosigner to take out a loan. After explaining my situation to quite a few people in the financial aid and bursar's office, my loan amount was increased and I was given a few thousand dollars. I also recieved a diversity grant. If you're not Black and are accepted to the University, they give you 2k a year. It def. helps with book money. If you remain patient and pleasent, they'll work miracles for you.Campus life is great. There are clubs for everyone, gay straight alliances, anime clubs, sports, organizations for all religions and interests, really. The surronding city, Baltimore? Well, Morgan is in the hood. It's not too safe to walk around outside by yourself, but if you have common sense and stay in groups, it's just fine. Baltimore Harbor isn't too far away, but a car is almost a must here. Morgan is a party school. I partied in high school, but the clubs we go to here are willlddd. Focus on academics and be patient with the fin. aid and Morgan is a great place to be!And work the summer before you get here and save your money! I wish I would have saved more… being broke in October and waiting for your refund check is NOT fun!
