There are some things you must know about the social scene before coming to UD. As a freshman, you can always find parties wherever you go and will barely ever have to pay to do it. The atmosphere of the student neighborhood is very appealing.

The nightlife at UD feels very midwest-like. Everyone drinks only beer, and people love to play drinking games all day and night. What you will NOT get at UD is the "party hard" vibe. With no decent bars around the area and no clubs it feels like everyone is just hanging out. Small parties are people talking drinking beer inside a house and big parties and people standing talking drinking beer outside in the yard. You wont go out to a high energy bar where you can meet new people and see girls dancing on the bar to really good music. To get the young party hard like you are a rockstar vibe you have to go downtown and few to none actually do. Everything is pretty dead by 3, and if something is going on it's considered a "late night" which consists of people hanging around talking…sort of like the whole night.

I am not saying that UD isn't fun, it's just not for everyone. If you are looking for a smaller school with lots of community, the ability to meet almost all your class by senior year, and small house parties UD is for you. If you are looking to dress like your going to a club and meet new people every weekend, it surely is not the place to go. US is much more laid back and a lot of people come here because of it.
