As I look back, I have to say that while everyone may have a different experience, Kenyon was the wrong choice for me. My main problem with Kenyon is that I feel that it is essentially an elitist college for rich kids that has little concern about the realities its graduates face after they graduate and enter the workforce. In fact, the college basically exists as a preparatory school for med school or law school.

The administration is so enamored of the classic liberal arts model- over the years, I have received the alumni bulletin and the president of the college consistently has made derogatory remarks about preprofessional schools, programs, or classes. I believe that actually obtaining some real skills that one can apply in a job is a good thing- the president of Kenyon apparently disagrees.

I really did not find Kenyon to provide me with any sort of competitive advantage once I reached the workplace. All the people I knew who graduated from Kenyon who had good jobs were either rich and well connected, or they were the math and economics majors. And while Kenyon itself is a beautiful campus, being located in the middle of nowhere in Ohio does get quite old after 4 years. I know there are people who probably will not like what I have written but I really think there are better liberal arts colleges out there. There are other colleges out there that are just more innovative when it comes to learning. Oh, by the way, Kenyon is now one of the most expensive colleges in the nation.
