Southern's an okay school. Overall, not my first choice but since I didn't do so well and slacked off in high school I had to settle with what I could get. It's an exceptional school to go to if you are an education or a nursing major, otherwise it's just like any other college.

Classes are fairly easy, so long as you show up, do the work, and put an effort in. It really does depend on what professor you have, so make sure you look on ratemyprofessor.com so you know what you're getting into it. As far as the atmosphere, they are doing alot of construction, and the buildings have improved alot since I was a freshman (I am a junior now.) There is a brand new library and student center, and they're both absolutely beautiful. They are still in the midst of construction, so you will see workers and trucks if you visit the campus. I commute, I do not live on campus. I would say it's hard to make friends with people at Southern unless you live on campus, and you go to parties and are involved in other aspects of dorm life. I'm not sure how dorm life is - some people tell me it sucks, some people say it's alright. Commuters mostly keep to themselves, and converse with who they know from the outside world. But I would say this is a good school to go to, if you want to commute and just come here, get your credits, go home and for people who maybe trying to hold down a job at the same time as attending school. If you're coming here for the whole "college" experience, you might be slightly disappointed.
