Chaminade university was extremely misleading in their representation of themselves when i was asked to attend 2 years ago when a rep came to give a talk at my high school. They failed to disclose that the campus is shared and heavily used by a high school which i believe owns the property Chaminade is situated on in the first place. They also failed to disclose the fact that the said "observatory" on campus is actually a sheet metal hut shaped like a real observatory with literally a 3 foot high door one must crawl through to get into it. But i cant say iv ever been in there, because its always locked, its broken, it does not function and is simply there for show and is not maintained in the slightest. They also failed to disclose that almost none of the credits offered are transferable ANYWHERE, so few in fact that a sophmore credited student which wants to transfer to a better school must start over as a freshman because so few classes really count to other universities. you are locked in with your hands tied leaving no choice but to finish. the residential life program is one of the most corrupt and skewed i have ever been witness to. i do not believe that in my experiences with them i have been really ever treated fairly and that there is a facade of "care" behind which lurks a lazy and ineffective system. the proceedings that are indeed in place are a sham, there is no sense of control when dealing with their office, if you wish to appeal anything at all they fine you for correctly or not the proceeding is so ridiculous that you just pay the fine to not jump through their hoops even though you are indeed right. the person in charge is always present on campus and yet she never seems to be available. the sanctions which they impose on the student are also extremely negative in their nature and they do not even take their appeals process seriously themselves because from first hand witness, no attention is paid and a closed minded council of people, friends from the same office ignore your claim and throw it out the window in favor of their own ruling. it is at best a corrupt and antiquated office. the director has taken her own comfort and job security as more important than the fairness in which cases are handled. it is a school in dire straits trying to build a reputation for themselves. but they are doing it on the backs of the students paying to get in and building its bank account based on fees, "administrative costs", and endless sanctions where pin prick holes in the wall cost $400 and an unemptied trash can will run you $50
