Wow. I think students should get into a college on their on merits…not because their parents went to that school. Students and parents need to realistic about fit. Good for Colby! |
SAT scores are not the only indicators of merit. |
Wow, just a little bitter huh? |

Couldn't agree more! Overpriced, oversized prep school. |

I have always been very grateful to Colby for the generosity in financial aid that was afforded to me. I came from a blue collar family with parents who did not go to college. Going to Colby was a huge opportunity for me, and I made the most of it, but I struggled enormously both academically and socially. I wanted my child to go to Colby, but he was rejected because of his lower than their standard SAT scores. Honestly, I took the rejection quite personally, and as far as I am concerned, Colby no longer exists. I am quite embarrassed of all the praise I have given this college, when in reality, I was a fish out of water when I was there. My son is an excellent musician and wanted to play in their symphony orchestra and jazz band. Since I place a great deal of value on loyalty, I feel that my loyalty to a college where I was totally miserable, was misplaced. It actually feels good to be honest at last. If you are not an entitled, spoiled, elitist person, Colby is not the place for you.
