The University of New Haven is, without a doubt, the reason why I am successful today. While taking advantage of "real world learning" in the classroom at UNH, I was able to grasp concepts and principles that could be directly applied to my future career. The wealth of knowledge among the faculty, the top-notch facilities, and the plentiful internship opportunities made my experience truly worthwhile.

I came from a small town, so moving to a more urban area was a change for me. However, I was attracted to UNH because the campus is a nice, tight-knit, family-like community, while I could still take advantage of going into the city of New Haven or enjoy the outdoors in some of the surrounding towns. The direct, personalized attention from faculty and staff at the university ensured that I was given all of the tools (and more) that I would need to have a successful life beyond graduation.

If anything, I would strongly encourage high school students to visit any college campus of those schools you are interested in. For me, I knew within 10 minutes that UNH was the school I was going to; I felt comfortable from the moment I stepped foot on campus. And I had some great scholarships at some other really reputable schools. UNH stood out above and beyond because it offered everything that I hoped to gain from my college experience. Be sure to meet faculty, staff, and current students to get a full view of what the campus really offers for you.

Because of the opportunities UNH afforded me, I was able to take part in a wealth of leadership positions on campus (some that even saved me over three years' worth of tuition dollars), gain a truly valuable experience in the classroom and state-of-the-art facilities, and learn "real-world" principles in several internships I held. If you want to be prepared for your life ahead, UNH will get you there with flying colors. You won't sit in large lecture halls with PhD's straight out of grad school; you'll learn from real practioners who have lived and breathed their fields. And you'll get your hands dirty in facilities like the Crime Scene Training Center, live "Wall Street" trading floor, dental center, television studios, and more.

If you want a true experience that WILL prepare you for the real world, then make UNH your next stop in your life journey. UNH has enhanced my life in every way possible and I'm thankful for the time I spent there.
