Coming from Chicago, IL I was very skeptical about attending NMSU. I sort of viewed it as having a "redneck" or dominatley mexican demographic, which isn't necessarily false. However, I can say that I have been pleasantly surprised with my experience so far. I have made amazing friends, mostly due to the fact that I joined a fraternity. The PGA Golf management program ranks among the best in the country, towering over programs at Clemson, or Florida State or schools most people would view as a great school to go to. NMSU has HORRIBLE school spirit, the football team was threatened to be moved down to DIV-1 AA if we could not maintain at least a 15,000 fan average, which is sad considering students get into games for free. You can't blame the students however, we have one of the worst football programs in the country and havent made a bowl game in 40 + years. There is a new coach now, so maybe within the next decade…lol. NMSU makes up for it with their basketball team which has seen some success and usually manages to have a successful winning season. Overall, I give NMSU an A-. I always wanted to go to a bigger school or one that always have competitive athletics, but I learned that college is really what you make it. The girls, at least in the greek scene are great, I can't complain. There are plenty of hot girls. I manage to have a blast and can't wait to get back to school after each summer break. If you asked me two years ago if I wanted to go to another school I would have said yes, but after seeing how valuable the PGM program is at NMSU, and how many doors the school has opened for me, I would never transfer.
