The engineering department in SJSU is top notch. I've been to several companies around the bay area and they always prefer to hire SJSU alumni because they know the engineering programs are practical and not theoritical like UC Berkeley or Standford. I've worked with engineers that have graduated from Berkeley and Standford and they were never taught surveying, concrete-asphalt mixing, indeterminate steel analysis, etc. SJSU is a commuter school since everyone throughout the bay area travels there, so don't expect your class mates or friends to socialize much.
