Southern Connecticut is good for people who dont want to go so far from home and also want to save some money. Me personally find SCSU as a good place to start off. I like it here, nut be warned the education quality is not very challanging, but if you do plan on going to grad school, then SCSU may not seem like a bad place to start off.
