I'm a second year student from Kauai getting a major in Psychology and a minor in Criminal Justice. I looked to Chaminade for my college experience because it is a small campus with small class sizes. Coming from a small island this felt like home, but also gave me the experience to adverture out and try new things Kauai couldnt offer me. I liked the Psychology and Criminal Justice Programs at Chaminade because most of the teachers are teaching not just by the book, but with hands on experience and prior knowledge of the fields. This is valuble because when leaving my professors knowledge will help me with my furture career. My teachers have been extremely helpful in class and easy to get a hold of outside of class. They really take an interest in you as a person and not a number and since the class sizes are small they notice when you are gone. This is how they take an interest in you and care about you individually. My advisor has helped me a great deal because he has made my scheldual so i am able to finish in 3 years rather than 4.I feel that Chaminade has great student, teachers and staff which has made my expereince here enjoyable. As for dorming, i did dorm for my first year, but then moved off campus with my boyfriend this year. I will have to say dorming my first year was a wonderful expereince because i got to meet everyone in my class, which were faces i then saw in majority of my classes making studying really easy. I had many people to ask for help with assignments if i didnt understand and always had friends to help out with exams. Now since i am off campus i have to figure out other ways to do things academically because those friends arent there at my fingertips. Overall, Chaminade has given me everything i was looking for in a college expereince. I am away from home, but still close enough to see my family. I am able to focus on school, have a on campus job, and able to graduate in 3 years. I would definately recommend this school to other students because if you are serious about your future and actually have goals and dreams, Chaminade has all the components to make it come true if you take advantage of it.
