Vassar Drama is vastly overrated.

If all you want to do is academic theater, or never REALLY perform at a professional level, then by all means go there.

The professors have no idea what the "real world" is like and even squelch the ambitions of those students who wish to do anything else but "downtown theater" or be professors.

I spent many years unlearning what I learned at this hole of a school and regret that I went there

Have you had any success in performing? I'm looking to go to Vassar and hoping to create my own performance major, but you seem to think that this would be very difficult. I really love the Vassar student environment though, any advice? Thanks!!

The Powerhouse Theater summer program is very beneficial to performing arts students. And I don't think Meryl Streep or Lisa Kudrow would call it overrated.
