BSU has the worst science program I have ever witnessed at a university. There are 20,000 plus students and many of BSU's science courses only have one class for the entire semester. When you have that many people trying for one class you realistically have a very little chance of getting into that class with 40 students aloud into the course each semester. BSU is unapologetic and unwilling to help. BSU does not take many schools science credits leaving you no options for completing a science degree in four years like they would lead you to believe. BSU has a good football program but it seems much of their funding goes to their sports programs. It?s unfortunate that they do this because last time I checked people go there for an education. When you are at this school it will not be loyalty that keeps you there it is the lack of options. It?s the only school for miles and only university for hundreds of miles. I have been at this school now for 2 ? years and I really don?t think I can say a positive thing about it which is unfortunate because I moved back here to come to this school. Oh and each year I have been here they have increased tuition by 10 percent. Do the math it starts to make a difference I?ve been here for almost three years that 30% of what I started out at it doesn?t seem like it?s stopping soon and they still complain that they don?t have enough money so they also up the fees for everything else to help compensate.

responseI looked at the costs for Boise State University and they are very low for a three state region. I did look at cost increases for the past three years and found 4%; 5% and 9% which the State Board of Education approved each year. The 2011 $5,300 annual tuition compares lowest in universities for Idaho; Montana; Washington; Oregon; as well as Arizona State. This information is available here: 1616 Key in the school and check the rank and tuition for each university (BSU is 57th in the nation). You can find the 2008 tuition comparison here: Please cite your sources next time, as any student knows to do.
responseFirst off the last time BSU had a 4% increase was in 1995 so your research is off. Also assuming this persons numbers are right it would be a larger increase than 30% when compared to their 1st year tution. They were kind in BSU's assessment. Also as a person currently going there I would have to point out that they now have record enrollment and not enough classes. They realy should be a limit on attendance like and any real college does. An off issue that need to be addressed is that their degree plans have pretty much transitioned to five year programs. My wife and I take 15 credits a semester and still are on a five year track.
