Major: School of Information (This Major's Salary over time)
I am a third semester student at FHSU. I am taking my classes virtually, and whereas at some schools this means "fluff" courses and no application of studies towards a degree, this is not the case at FHSU. The courses are demanding, exactly as they are at the brick and mortar location, and teachers expect results. Being a distance learner has advantages, like knowing what the entire semesters course work will be up front, but you must be self motivated and dedicated, the professors are not there to hold your hand. They expect punctuality in your work just as they would at the physical location. You don't have to worry about not networking either as each class offers discussion boards where you can meet other students in your courses. Pretty quickly, I identified students that were in the same curriculum, as we see each other posting on the same boards. This gives a lot of connection to the student body so you don't feel separated. My advisor Nanette is great, and besides one professor that was a little detached and unreachable, all of my professors have been helpful, quick to respond to issues and very communicative on my work. There is a lot of feedback. Course are tough, no lie, but the idea is to apply yourself. If it is easy, there is a reason, and that isn't what a degree is all about. If your courses are easy or "fluff", what good is that going to do you in the real world? The value is the excellent education I am getting at a reasonable (very reasonable) cost. I had looked at other schools who seemed more interested in my money than my education, and that is why I picked FHSU. I have friends who are attending other schools and I hear their disappointment in their choice. Not me, I couldn't be happier. This university has everything you need and more, it is the best!
