Hamilton is exactly what you make it to be. I have had an incredible four years because I've put a lot into it, and have gotten SO much out of it. The resources are HERE, you just have to make the most of it. Seriously, anything you could possibly think of can happen here, and the administration is just waiting for someone to come up with a new idea to reinvigorate the community. And there are a LOT of students with exactly that innovation. I've been so impressed over my four years by how many new clubs and activities have sprouted up from new classes. Yes, Clinton may not be a mecca of culture, but students can really make the most of the Adirondacks, of exploring hidden gems of central New York like a really great restaurant or a Nordic skiing spot. One thing I like about Hamilton is the type of student that comes here. I've found that while yes, a lot of students like to enjoy their weekends, they also really enjoy academics. You find a lot of lunch tables continuing on a discussion from a class and enjoying the perspectives of different peers. Because it's a good school, I'm always really impressed by the intellect of my fellow classmates, but also by the enjoyment everyone seems to get from learning. This is only further developed by our professors who really have a passion for teaching and about their subject matters. Of course there are a few exceptions, but for the vast majority of professors, I've found that they really want you to get the most out of your classes. They enjoy office hours because it's an opportunity to talk to students one on one and they appreciate student perspectives as much as we appreciate theirs. Overall, it's been a great place to spend four years. Would I want to spend four more years here? Probably not, because I'm ready for the next step. But for the time that I've spent here, I really couldn't ask for more. It's really prepared me for the next stages of my life and has been a wonderful place for me to make friends and nurture an intellectual curiosity that will remain will me indefinitely.
