Major: Economics (This Major's Salary over time)
Grinnell College is a perfect place for students who are gay, bi, and/ or social misfits. The majority of the student body is very intelligent, however they are arogant and standoffish- and have no sense of the world outside of Grinnell. If you consider yourself to be anything other than ultra Liberal (politically speaking) do not expect to have any of your views or concerns heard or catered to. The college is full of hipsters, hippies, ultra-Liberals, and gays. The social life is terrible, all there is to do is look out the window at the snowbanks and gray skies. The parties are less than high school parties (ie. playing beerpong for four hours and then going to sleep). The parking is terrible and the dorms are old and drafty and very expensive. The classes keep in tune with the ultra-liberal philosophy of the college. If you have differing views you will be dismissed and often times subject of a witch hunt. Males frequently dress in women's clothes, paint their nails, and wear make-up to be more "socially accepting". The gays are the most catered to students on campus. Grinnell is a different world. If you want to gain real-world experience and better yourself for your life in the real-world don't come here. If you're looking to be surrounded by hippies and gays in an EXTREMELY secluded and rural town in the middle of Iowa then come and be my guest. My one year here was one of the worst experiences of my life- and set me back a bit socially and academically. Oh and the sports here and utterly disgraceful, the college has a rule where no one can be cut from the squads and that makes things truly unrealistic- but thats what this college is all about.
