As a graduating senior I obsessively read these reviews and was terrified before coming to Salisbury as it was not my first choice and was accepted to better universities but Salisbury was the best financially for my family and was accepted into the Honors program. What I've learned is college is what you make of it and Salisbury is a good place if you want to be at a small university where professors know your name and you see friends all around campus. I personally consider myself an extremely motivated student, not the smartest but work the hardest and I worked VERY hard my first semester taking 5 classes each semester. If you are a science major, nursing, etc. you will work extremely hard in chemistry, anatomy, biology and your grades matter and people are competitive. Outside of that, I see that students have way less work and free time or just don't care. These people who don't care, don't do work and don't go to class and generally screw around will be gone by sophomore year, i've seen it in a ton of people I know. These people are the ones that go out often, which brings me to the social life/party scene. I am the work hard, party somewhat hard type and found that as a freshman parties are often hard to come by even with many connections with friends on sports teams, frats, etc. but is still very fun when you go and you always recognize someone you know. I must say there is a big weed scene here and most guys I know are into it which surprised me but no one pressures you. The surrounding city is not the safest or most picturesque at parts but travel in groups and don't go walking around at 4 in the morning and you'll be fine. Another thing Salisbury is expanding like crazy as the school is buying up plots all around town and building the new dorms, Perdue school of business, and upperclassman apartment and retail complex so it's an exciting time. I feel that I am going to a private liberal arts school and paying little for it. I've enjoyed my time at SU and know many others that love it, join clubs, get involved on campus and make a spot for yourself and you will love this school.
