Vassar really is a finishing school..it takes the outcasts, the bright eccentrics and rich social inept children and makes them even more eccentric.

I like eccentric. I AM eccentric. But if you are expecting anything else you will be disappointed.

The campus is pretty. The financial Aid is excellent. Once in a great while you meet a student or a professor who has an original thought. But Vassar mostly runs on a big fluffy cloud of itś reputation (from when the 40ś the 50ś the 1880ś?)when it was elite and special..

but really what does that even mean? The daughters of robber barons came for a year before marrying the sons of robber barons? When Jane Fonda walked the quad. Who really cares? Itś mostly a bubble of fantasy and tribalism & fear.

Other marginally OK things. Poughkeepsie isn?t that bad. Stop moaning have you ever seen other towns in America. NYC really is nearby. As is Boston. And Vermont.

Another good thing—which lasted—is the idea of going to the primary source. This—naturally—was useless at VC because there were NO primary sources there & if there WAS a primary source then it was on reserve in the library for the whole class to write identical papers)..

but the IDEA of finding things ouut for yourself has served me well since I have left. Itś a bit like having a conscience—when you hear something or see it in the news—every after you think…

How do I know if this is true?

Also I had one great Professor—now retired—who insisted that I really look at art.

Is that enough for 4 years & all that money & time & drama & gossip & horribly pretentious creepy people? But what—really—are the alternatives?

responseYour college experience is really what you make it. And it sounds like you didn't appreciate much. It's a shame all of those pretentious creepy people had more fun and appreciation for their education than someone as negative and haughty as yourself. I'm also wondering if you fell asleep in your classes, because your grammer and punctuation is terrible.
