I hated Hampshire when I was a student there. In fact, the only things I liked about the school were the location and the farm. It's nice to be close to places to hike. After graduating, I didn't feel quite as negatively about the college, and I did realize that it helped me to grow as a person. I met more assholes at that school than I have ever met anywhere else…but you know why that turned out to be a great thing? I realized once I left that the vast majority of people elsewhere are friendlier and more mature—getting along with others was a breeze. I was a student in the "school" of natural science, and after talking to other students, this was supposedly one of the better departments. I actually wasn't too disappointed with my education, and assuming I can get into graduate school, I will have no qualms whatsoever. I worked hard at Hampshire, and while I didn't end up making very many friends, I did complete some really interesting projects.I think everyone has a unique experience at Hampshire, so I can't tell you that you will necessarily grow as a person by attending. I certainly did—but I'm still not sure if I'd want to repeat the experience.
