I am a Media Studies major and I am overall disappointed with Hunter. It is one of the most mentioned of the CUNY colleges and it is said to be a "Best Value" from the Princeton review and I guess that's all there is to it. I suppose one can get a "decent" education from Hunter paying a relatively low tuition but I'm disatisfied. The building is in disrepair and is in need of renovation, the lighting is depressing fluorescent lights, the bathrooms are gross, the sinks are these plastic looking bowls and none of the stalls have a hook to hang your bag(it's like they are all broken or was taken down). I expected to be challenged coming from a community college, but I've never been so bored in a semester as this. I'm not assigned much homework from my classes the tests are fairly ok so long as you study for them. I have not found it too easy to make friends here as a transfer student, everyone already seems to be friends with one another. The only place I've gotten a good vibe from is the Center for Career Developement, although they take a while to review your resume/cover letter. The neighborhood does not offer much except visiting the park in good weather. Definitely look closely at this school before deciding to come here and go to an open house and see the school for yourself. After one semester, I will be transfering out to another school. I feel unchallenged, unhappy with the buildings which are uninspiring, run-down and depressing looking, the professors are ok but the I don't feel I'm getting much of anything out of the classes. It's time to move on.
