Given the chance to do my college career over again, I would not go to UK. The buildings are in disrepair, and the University seems reluctant to open its fists to improve. Faculty are often chosen for their accolades and not their quality of teaching; most professors do not genuinely care about students' acquisition of knowledge or progress. One professor in my department was quite vocal about his dislike of students. Lexington is a nightmare to live in. Traffic is constantly backed up, and there is - quite literally - nowhere to go. Unless you are a UK sports fanatic, you will have slim pickins' for things to do on the weekends. UK is shockingly quite a suitcase school, with up to half the population packing up and going home each weekend. In retrospect, I wish I had dug a little deeper into student loans to go to a school that would invest in my personal and academic development. My college experience was not a positive one, and I resent the 4 years of my life I wasted at UK.
