This is a horrible college to attend. First of all, the size of the campus makes even the smallest task a huge chore. For example, I had a problem with my graduation application and I had to spend hours going from department to department because they simply treated me like 1 of 25,000 students (which is exactly what I was). If you want an example of this, try and call the admissions or financial aid department in August. You will be on hold for at least half an hour and probably over an hour. On top of this, the quality of education was lacking. Many of the professors were more concerned with expressing political viewpoints than teaching the material. Plus they had a horrible tendency to have multiple-choice tests in upper division classes which tended to test things like statistics that were impossible to find in the book. In a closed book test, answering is impossible. If you have allergies forget about coming to this school. I have horrible allergies and normally Las Vegas isn't too bad for this, but the campus itself has thousands of different types of trees so you have year-round symptoms.Another note is maintenance of the campus. There are some buildings that are not even that old (20-25 years old) that are completely falling apart. The school has no money, so they don't bother to fix it.Another point of interest is the availability of scholarships. With very little funding for the school, don't count on getting a scholarship. Although the only bright point of this school is that it is cheap.I never really took part in extracurricular or Greek Life so I cannot testify to their quality.Overall, if you want a quality education, want to feel like a part of campus, want a grade to be based on something other than ability to guess on a scan-tron test, or if you want to know the buildings are not going to fall on top of you, don't go to UNLV. However, if you want a cheap diploma and are lucky at guessing or if your primary concern is the distance to a bar, this is the place to go.
