Major: Religion/Religious (This Major's Salary over time)
I graduated from Moody with a major in Biblical Languages & a minor in Linguistics in 2011. I am now pursuing my Masters in Biblical Exegesis and Applied Linguistics. My Moody experience: I was the valedictorian of my high school class of 500 and scored a 34 on my ACT. I wanted a college that would challenge me, but most Bible colleges seemed like jokes academically. Moody was attractive to me in-part because it is more academically rigorous than other Bible colleges. I liked the fact that Moody was so specialized in Bible education, making it very similar to a seminary. In terms of classes, some of the gen-eds during my freshman year were not the best. They were not challenging at all and made up of busywork. But by the time I got into my major-specific classes, I realized that coming to Moody was the best choice I could have made. The Bible & Theology departments are very strong, with world-class faculty who are very approachable. I almost wish I could force every student to major in Bible or Theology. Some of the other programs are not as strong. It is no surprise that some students leave Moody wondering what their degree is worth. If you take a bunch of easy classes in an obscure major, of course you will not learn much! Furthermore, students need to realize that their Moody degree is not about getting a great job after graduation. It is about challenging the way you think and shaping your understanding of God, the Bible, and culture. In terms of student life, I have no idea where all of these negative reviews about guy/girl interactions are coming from. Moody is not a fundamentalist Baptist Bible college with outlandish rules. I do not even know how to correct these reviews, except to say that they are false. Unless you suffer from incurable social awkwardness, you will have no problem hanging out with the opposite sex at Moody outside of Bro/Sis.Location: Couldn't be better. The campus is not the most aesthetically appealing place, but what can you expect for a school in downtown Chicago. There are plenty of ways to get involved on-campus and you will have no lack of things to do in the city.I am sure that there is much more to say, but I will end by saying that I highly recommend Moody Bible Institute.
