Lasell College

Do NOT waste your time and money on this school. I'm currently a freshman in my second semester and half of my friends left after the first semester. If you don't find a group of people to hang out with within the first few months you're screwed. Most people only hang out with their roommates/people in their dorm.

Dorms:

I lived in Woodland Hall (all freshman). I liked the idea of this at first because I wanted to get to know a lot of people in my class. Woodland is TERRIBLE! It's dirty and loud. When the cleaning people come they're in there for 2 hours in the morning (during that time you're not allowed in the bathroom or shower room). You could only imagine a floor of girls sharing one bathroom and not being able to use it before class in the morning. It's loud. All the time. I'd invest in some ear plugs if you want to sleep. There is a table outside of Woodland that everyone hangs out at, but if you don't smoke cigarettes you're out of luck. The one thing I love about Lasell is the fact that you can live in a beautiful victorian house. I had to move out of my room because my roommates were psycho so I moved into a house which I love now. It can get kind of creepy at night. A lot of the houses are actually haunted (like seriously haha). The heat can make weird noises at night too. The other all freshman dorms are McClleland and VanWinkle. McClleland is definitely nicer than Woodland. The rooms are much smaller and it is always hot. I have never been in VanWinkle but it is an all girl dorm. I've heard the rooms are nice. Some have built in closets. The upper classmen dorms are East, West, Forest, Rockwell, Bragdon, Buttersworth, and they're building a new dorm but I'm not sure who will live in that. They are all really nice. Some are two rooms connected by a bathroom (I think just Rockwell). The others are all more like apartments with a bathroom, living room, and 2 bedrooms. Holt is dorm that houses any grade I think. They are 2 rooms connected by a bathroom.

People:

Everyone at Lasell is exactly the same. Most of the girls are stuck up lax hoes. Lax bros are the typical guy you'll find on campus. Everyone is pretty much from Mass. or at least New England and they all go home on the weekends. If you go outside on a Saturday there will most likely be no one in sight. No one is very nice. If you're a girl you have to be the "typical" girl (pretty, skinny, athletic, ditzy, stuck up). If you're not a cookie cutter prep you probably won't fit in and the girls are not people to reach out and try to be nice to you. The guys are all douchebags for the most part. They only pay attention to those "typical" girls. Upper classmen don't pay much attention to under classmen. If you don't smoke weed you might as well take Lasell off your list all together. People smoke in their rooms so don't be surprised if any building you walk into reeks of weed. The RAs are pretty chill about everything but there are always a couple to look out for.

Social Life:

If you're looking to party don't bother trying. My friends and I tried to have a good time first semester and gave up by second semester. The only day you are guaranteed to drink is thirsty Thursday, and even then you're not guaranteed to find a party. A "party" at Lasell is some people hanging out and drinking in a dorm room. Since there is no greek life there are no parties to go to. The Lax house is in a different town so you have to take a cab there and sometimes cabs don't want to take you there. Since everyone goes home on the weekends you're basically screwed if you're trying to party. The campus is smack dab in the middle of a neighborhood. The people that live in the neighborhood are rich older couples with very young kids. Some houses call campus police if dorms get too loud so if there is anything going on it gets broken up by the time you hear about it. Being so close to Boston was one of the main reasons i chose to come to Lasell. They tell you its a 5 minute walk to the T, yeah well they lied, it's more like 15. The T ride into Boston is going to be at least 45 minutes to an hour. The shuttle sucks you can't even really rely on it. I've gotten stuck in West Newton a number of times and they just won't come for 2 hours.

All in all, I don't really no anyone who likes Lasell. You were warned.
