I had one goal in mind when I attended FCCJ: finish up my AA and transfer to a state university ASAP. Even though the college has its many faults, FCCJ did help me achieve my goal and for this I'm very thankful.

The quality of faculty is hit or miss. I only had a couple bad instructors that should have never been teaching. They must have been adjuncts that we're only looking for a paycheck because they had no desire to actually teach! I am very fortunate though that most of my professors were really good. However, this is by no means the norm.

You're better off ignoring the counselors and financial aid representatives because often times they give dubious information. Read up on the the rules independently and you'll be a lot better off. If you must speak with a counselor or financial aid rep, I found the ones located at the Deerwood Center to be the most competent.

I also had to shop around the different campuses to get additional financial aid and waivers on the maximum amount of credits I could take in a semester. Because the administration of the college is so laughably disorganized, I was always able to find someone that would give me the answer I wanted.

The tuition is dirt cheap, or at least it was when I attended. So it might not be a bad idea to get an AA at FSCJ and then transfer to another university. If I could do it all over again, I would have dual enrolled while in high school and graduate with a diploma and AA.
