Is
it worth it $ wise?-
Its a small Catholic school in the city of
Boston. Coming from the South it was a real culture
shock. The school is ok, but if you're smart, take
your money somewhere else. The social life sucks. If you
dont know anyone going to other schools in Boston you're
screwed.
Who would enjoy this school?
People who are average students, who live
close by, who dont party and dont mind the small
amount of people who go here. Someone who is Catholic
and doesn't mind overpaying for the school.
Parties-
Emmanuel parties suck and you can
only have fun if you come to the parties plastered,
with your own alcohol and money to pay at the
door (even for girls) & money for a cab ride
back (T closes at 12.50). Obviously all the parties are
off campus so you have to truck a half hour
away on the T to go to a party which
will most likely suck. Being a girl from the South,
the gentlemen suck. You have to pay to get in
to the party, then pay to get a cup and
then go to find out that the keg is tapped.
From my own experience have a fake ID and being
able to buy my own alcohol and drinking on the
way to that 1 sucky party a weekend they have
is the only way to get through. Yes, really one
party a weekend!
Residence Life-
I was stuck in a forced triple on the
ground floor of an all freshmen (basically all girls) dorm
aka in a dirty basement in an overcrowded room. It
worked out because i liked my hall mates & roommates. RAs- mine was never there but because of that we
gotta way with a lot of shit when she was
on duty. The other RAs were not a fan of
my room. Part of Emmanuels school rules is no alcohol
on campus & shot glasses aren't allowed as well. Everyone
broke that rule but we got busted for it a
coupe times. They're really strict on their quiet hours. When
RAs make their rounds at night it wasn't uncommon for
them to walk slowly or stop at our door, even
sometimes trying to listen or look through he peep whole.
Od,d but they did have the right to do that.
Most of the time they knocked on the door for
hearing us talking about alcohol related topics or for being
loud. It sounds unfair and it was unfair for them
to basically target us but they weren't breaking any rules.
Being stuck at this jesus camp with their rules, they
could basically do anything they wanted. Living on the ground
floor is a disadvantage. You dont have as many luxuries
as the other floors, which for me I would have
wanted a discount for living in the basement of this
hall
Lastly-
BE AWARE.
most weekends people go home, long weekends are a ghost
town. Such a ghost town that the caf isn't open
every long weekend!
