Major: Agriculture/Horticulture (This Major's Salary over time)
I'm an out of state student from a major metropolitan area and I will have to say my transition at UK has been very smooth. The key to success at UK is making a big school small. Once you find your inner group of friends your social circles start growing exponentially. Best advice for you would to either go Greek, which I did, join a club sport team, which is a lot of fun and highly suggest, or an organization. I will say that UK is a Greek dominated school . However even if you are in a fraternity/sorority still make the effort to get to know as many people as you can because it can help you greatly down the road.As for the professors in the department of Ag are amazing at UK. They are very friendly and always are looking to help students with their studies and their student organizations. I came into UK knowing nobody in Ag and after joining a club I have gotten to know all of my professors personally. I will say that other majors may not have as good luck as me. I know that engineers have much larger classes.Just try and get involved as much as you can and you will love this school. If you instead are just trying to be another face in the crowd you will not enjoy your time here and simply make excuses for why UK sucks.
