Attending Eastern Michigan University has been one of the hardest most depressing times in my life so far. I transferred from Washtenaw Community because I failed a class and did not have the math classes to get in anywhere else.

The one thing that ruins this college is the lack of any real intelligent social life. The only type of social activities that involve decent people here are the christian organizations but they will disown you if you are not christian. I came here wanting to make friends, and I quickly realized that almost all the non-commuter students are on the path to failure.

I stayed in the dorm rooms and had the cops called on me, my whole floor hated me, and there was not one decent looking woman who was not a complete broken creature and everyone screamed drunk all night, but if I made noise playing guitar the whole floor freaked out.

I moved to university apartments and the guy next to me got his door kicked in by a gangster, my neighbors blasted rap with their subs all day and night, people fucked with my car, and noone wanted to be my friend.

I finally moved to Ann Arbor but I still have to come to this place. I still look for friends and try to talk to women but literally everyone blows me off.

However, I have already had two paid internships and a student IT position and only owe the university like 3,000 dollars because I got scholarships and grants. Some professors really suck, some others are compassionate and give you a chance. I did not learn much except for how bad the world is and how cruel people can be. My dad has taught me all my other career skills.

There was one professor who taught me how to network with professionals and invited guest speakers in which is how I got my internship and how I saved myself from the fate that most other students will experience here.

In the end it is not the school that you go to which drives your success, it is your individual will to push forward despite all opposition. Looking back you get what you pay for, I would suggest if you decide to go to Eastern you get a job (or paid internship), commute, and learn to network because no one will help you succeed here.
