I REGRET coming to Benedictine. For reasons listed below.

People: For the most part there is a large "us" and "them" mentality. The cliques here are ridiculous. You have sport team cliques, which for the most part all seem to get along fairly well with one another. If you happen to be a "normal" person not involved in any sports get ready to turn your nose brown because really this is the only good way to become part of the campus seeing as sports teams run this joke of a show. After the sports team cliques you have all the other white person cliques, which if you aren't white or don't act white you don't really have a shot at getting in. (Oh and if you are a white guy hanging out with other races you're probably going to be ostracized.) I myself am white and I really didn't care about the color of people's skin as much as who they were, which is a big no no here. I'm telling you the people at this schoo are BAD. Pretty much people who are so uncomfortable with themselves or that have such a huge ego that the only thing they have time for is making fun of all the various other cliques or insulting other people. Finally you have the biggest clique of all, which is the Muslim population. I thought it would be cool to go to a school with a large muslim population because it was different. Let me tell you that it was different in a bad way. I'm not racist at all, but the Muslims at this school generally only hang out with Muslims, if you are any other race they will pretty much make a point of not hanging out with you. Seeing as they are a majority group at this school (And I'm also talking about the Indians as well, the two groups group together in what is refferred to as "brown people" and they literally only hang out with brown people), well, this is a VERY BAD thing. Finally you have the commuters who pretty much run the school by living here for only four hours a day, nobody really cares about them though because they really don't care about anybody but themselves. It's actually rather funny for me because commuters were the people I had the most in common with, yet they managed to isolate themselves from the people that live on campus.

Academics: Overall good but a lot of cheating.

Dorms: Bad. I mean really bad. If you are a guy, let me tell you that the freshmen door known as Ondrak is probably the most minimalistic dorm I've ever seen/lived in. You have a small room that you generally share with another guy. There isn't a kitchen, so you end up washing your plates in a bathroom. No one ever uses the lobby because all it has is a T.V. There really is no sense of community in my dorm. Really it's just a bunch of cliques as I stated above. We also had someone deficate all over the dorm for five months straight before the administration finally took action.

Final thoughts: I regret coming here. I lost my whole first year of school as well as my whole first year group of friends (who also transferred). I really didn't like this school from about the third week straight of attending and kept telling myself that it would get better. It NEVER got better really, I just got used to it sucking, everyone looking miserable all the time, and the general animosity that people here show eachother. This place sent me spiraling into a dark depression for at least two months in which I came to the conclusion that this school really wasn't for me. I really hate this school. It made me look at life and other people in ways that I never thought myself capable of. I came from a large public high school where everyone generally got along with one another and people were very open minded and accepting when it came to one another. Here I was met with close-minded, arrogant, selfish people, who showed me what it was like to be a bad person, and they also showed me what it's like to be miserable all the time. There are good people here, but they are a dying minority. Don't go here. Seriously Don't go here.
