I have completed my first two years at SFASU, and am happily starting my third. People have a lot of mixed feelings about SFA, but lets be honest, the college experience is what you make of it. I thoroughly enjoy the size of the school. I am able to really connect with my professors, and I am not just a number in the system. There are so many resources available for students to receive assistance in their academics. The AARC is a wonderful resource where students can go to receive help with their subjects. The class size is not big at all. This allows professors to be aware of their students during lessons. The campus has a police force that you will see everywhere. This helps students feel safe on campus. If you ever have a problem, you can contact UPD and they will assist you in any way possible. I can talk about the greatness of the school all day, especially the education department, which has access to the charter school on campus that allows education students to get real experience working in a school setting with children. I can't say many good things about Nacogdoches, however. It is a beautiful town, but it has a lot of problems. Despite it being such a small town, we have a big police force, and it is necessary. The economy of Nacogdoches is not very great. The city also does not boast much in the way of entertainment. Because of this SFA has been labeled a "party school" because there is nothing much to do other than party (although I cannot say much about that, because I have never been to a party). There are a handful of run-down clubs, a bowling alley, a little movie theater… and that is about it. I have made a lot of great friends at SFA, there is an organization here for everyone. I would definitely recommend the school to people who are comfortable in a small town setting and want a college experience where you are known to your professors and classmates.
