where to start? UMD is more like an employment program than a university.

Let's start from Housing and Residence Life. Don't waste your money living on-campus, as the director Casey Kiess draws an annual salary of $70,000/year (for doing nothing) but she is not alone. High salaries for administration is a big issue at this school, as UMD is currently cutting $12 million from its budget.

Let's move to the food court. The food is over-priced, low-quality, and plain gross. The dining center is worst. Be prepared to have a diarrhea after eating at the DC.

Racist incidents are common at this school. One or two racist incidents/semester are pretty much the norm here.

UMD is a total waste of money. Save your precious money and go to a better place, something that will value you, not treat you as another number.
