I really enjoyed my first year at Ramapo and was immensely excited going into my sophomore year until I realized what Ramapo was all about.

In terms of academics, the professors are 95% liberal. Normally, I wouldn't have a problem with this but they let it get in the way of their teaching. Instead of discussing what was actually listed in the syllabus, they spent the majority of the time discussing why God doesn't exist, the lack of women's equality, and why George Bush was the worse thing to happen to America (none of which had anything to do with the classes they were "teaching"). It all just seems like busy work.

From a social aspect, Ramapo is as bad as it gets. Public Safety is on this crazy power trip where they love to give fines for absolutely no reason and scare the students into not enjoying themselves. College is half educational and half social but Public Safety has destroyed the second half of the college experience. Sure, you can go to a party on campus, as long as you find people that are willing to risk $200, $400, $600, or $800 fines. Instead, the school rather have students go off campus to drink, essentially promoting drinking and driving. And don't fall for the "Good Samaritan" policy, they won't get you for underage drinking but they will get you for your alcohol paraphernalia, too many people in the room, and a noise complaint. The campus is pretty much a police state so have a good time but you're taking a risk whenever you attempt to do anything remotely fun in the middle of the forest that is Ramapo.

At the beginning, Ramapo seemed as if it would be everything I wanted in a college but it turned out to be a no-fun and non-educational waste of money.
