This school is absolutely amazing. Really the only problem is on campus parking or if you live at West Campus (dont request to dorm at West Campus..)Education: Youre definitely getting your money worth in education. The professors arent bad at all, I suggest using rate my professor still. The classrooms vary from old-to brand new looking but honestly I cant think of anything to complain about concerning the rooms.Campus: I love the campus, and the fact that theyre currently in the process of expanding the campus makes me excited to return next semester and see what they added. From your dorm you can walk to the dining halls, the gyms, park center arena for sports, the library- you name it- you can walk to it.Social Life: this school is unreal when it comes to socializing. Everyone is open to meet you, and extremely nice. The school is DOMINATED by sororities and athletic teams. Cortland is known to dominate in sports (which they do, I recommend going to any games you can) You will constantly be surrounded by athletes either NCAA or club. If you're bored- look to get involved in a club team or group like snowboarding. The party/downtown life is wild. Cortland was ranked the #1 SUNY party school 2013-2014 for a reason. There are plenty of dorm- off campus parties. Downtown provides a great variety of bars from traditional bars to sit at and relax, country bars, clubs with dance floors, and some are a hybrid of traditional/club depending on the floor youre on. Lets not forget Cortaca, Rush Week, Monroe Fest, Battle of the Halls, Bar Crawl… you get the idea. The catch is- if you arent involved in something, it may be a very long semester for you. Again, this school is huge in athletics; Everyone is very social but if you arent a social person, or a party person, it may be hard for you to find/expand your clique of friends outside of your roomates. The athletic teams are closesly knit, and the greek life doesnt have open parties to anyone. The frats and sororities here have invitational only mixers, which unless youre a REALLY close friend of someone in the greek life, you wont be going to 1 all semester. My advice if you arent a social bug, look into joining a club either sports or educational- its an easy way to meet new peoplePERK: One great perk of Cortland is that youre surrounded by other main cities (Oswego, Ithaca, Syracuse, etc.) Theres not much in the town of Cortland but the surrounding close towns are nice to have if you ever want to eat out, go shopping at a mall, watch a movie, etc.I spoke a lot about the social life, but of course theres a lot more to it. Overall, I would 100% recommend you at least check it out. I'm 100% content with my decision to come here over the other SUNY schools I got accepted too. It's the summer right now, and though I'm happy to be home, I'm counting down the days until I go back. It's an unreal/amazing experience and I never want to graduate from Cortland.FU IC, Cortaca champions 4 years straight.
