I was an Asian studies major… Hopefully this major will be "absorbed" by a bigger department in the future. When I attended (during the mid to late 2000's) it was a disaster. Some teachers clearly did not care or arrived to class late by 40-50 minutes. Their excuse was always "bad traffic." Maybe once in your career, not for days, months, and years on end. Teachers helped students in other classes to cheat. I knew two girls who cheated through the entire program, both were dumb as a doornail. One of them was a graduate student, and the other an undergrad. We should have had exit exams so they could fail and not receive a degree, especially when other students were actually doing the work. There was also some sexual harassment going on…and some psychologically disturbed students

Other majors at this school are fine, but steer away from anything to do with ethnic studies or language…

I agree with you 100 percent. I felt the same way in my major with lazy students getting easy As while handworkers like me got around B or C.

Long beach is in my top choices, but after reading many of these reviews I am extremely disappointed. Are people really that rude?????

I agree. Students are getting off way too easy and your idea of an exit exam would be a wonderful idea. It would catch those who are being too lazy to study off guard.

There is an exit exam called the UDWE (Upper Division Writing Exam) but like the CAHSEE in High School it's so easy you'd have to be a real retard to fail it.
