My son is non european american. based on readings i am not sure if wheaton is a good fit for him. i am concerned wheaton will encourage him to be more religious but not christlike. visited campus and coaches. they came across as narrow minded and slick in their presentation. any feedback would save us a lot of money and heartache. thanks

Wheaton encourages people to be both religious and Christlike. I understand why people might have come across as slick; they tend to think more about the already accepted students and how they relate to their particular profession (what major they're in) rather than what students could be. I visited Wheaton last year using their Connection program and the classes I went to were very academically focused. All the students were incredibly open to me asking questions about their life at Wheaton and I really enjoyed spending time with students there. Some of them will be narrow minded because Wheaton is a conservative school, but most are open to discussion about beliefs and opinions. The one impression of Wheaton I got was a little proud/aloof, simply because they are so intellectually based, but overall they are an accepting and open community. I am (hopefully) going there and I am not sure if I agree with some of their beliefs, but I hope to have the opportunity to ask Wheaton people about it when I get there. I hope this answered your question!
