I recently had to conduct some business through the university and suddenly realized that they did not have my student academic records coded correctly. After being rudely dismissed by phone by the registrars office I traveled several hours from out of state, having to take a day off from my job to get an error corrected that could have been resolved by phone. And when I got there there was over crowded parking. I was rudely told I would have to leave a lot by a security guard I believe. I said you know what, let me address my concerns directly through the chancellors office. I got what I needed done but was baffled about the utter rudeness of the staff and avoidance of call answers or callbacks. The jobthese staff members perform is one of customer service and ambassadors of the university. I noticed a mural in the staircase quoting ghandi telling people to be the example they wish to see. I found this utterly hypocritical and as a form of propaganda on the students. The rudeness and lack of professional courtesy is not an option. Nothing has changed at this institution. The same miserable faced, smart mouthed, lazy behinded workers short changing the very people who are the reason these unprofessional staff persons are there, the students. I would encourage students to stop being shortchanged at WSSU. Stop taking the verbal abuse from the staff there. Especially from that weirdo in the RAM card office. Something is mentally lacking with him, and for the university to allow JERKS like him and others to continue in their roles of poor service and outright abuse of students speaks volumes about the lack of concern and respect WSSU has for its students. I do not recommend WSSU to any potential students, I have seen this piss poor service for years. The best thing the University of North Carolina system could do no matter how many alumnus, students, and staff scream racism, is to take the state employee status away from these people doing there jobs poorly, and make them only university employed and make their jobs performance based. But oops you cant do that if the heads of the departments are inon the act also. Its sad, and you kids dont realize youre being disrespected and shortchanged by your dear HBCU. Seems our own skin color are at times worse than the other color.
