I had a very positive experience at Flagler College. I earned a double major in Spanish and Political Science. The Spanish coursework was fine; it was fairly typical of Spanish coursework anywhere. The political science coursework was exceptional. We took your typical courses in international relations, economics, and constitutional law. However, the highlight of this program was the coursework in political philosophy. The opportunities to study and discuss some really heavy topics (note: I was there on 9/11/2001) shaped me into the kind of professor I am today. My political science colleagues have gone on to become college professors, K-12 teachers, lawyers, etc.

Aesthetically, the college is amazing. I was there before the dorms got air conditioning, so that was pretty unpleasant. However, they were beautiful. The dining hall is world class. The grounds are well maintained and safe. I never once felt unsafe.

I had basically zero interaction with the administration, so I can't comment on them.

The price is fantastic. As a Florida resident, I was eligible for the FRAG. I also received the 75% Bright Futures Scholarship. This resulted in a moderately low out-of-pocket expense. I graduated with only about $10,000 in student loan debt, which is substantially lower than students from other private schools.

Overall, I was very satisfied with my Flagler experience. We didn't have fancy sororities or next-level athletics. We didn't have crazy dorm parties. We lived in a quiet beach town, studied, learned, and laughed. I have gone on to earn two Masters degrees and am nearly finished with a doctorate. Flagler prepared me exceptionally well for my graduate studies and career as a college professor.
