Major: Computer Science (This Major's Salary over time)
Well, where should I start? I guess I will first write about myself. I came to Lawrence from China, and studied computer science there. After graduating last year, I am still looking for a job, not because I didn't have a good education; it's because of my immigration status. That said, I have learned and grown so much at Lawrence! After spending quite some time at various graduate schools, I can honestly say a Lawrence education in computer science prepares you well anywhere. Going beyond what I learned at Lawrence, I grew a lot because of the people there. Since Lawrence is a small school, I had the chance to get to know everyone. As a result, I learned about what distinguished myself and everyone else. There were a lot of people, professors and students alike, that I looked up to. Now that I am entering the workforce, I constantly think of the work ethics of some of my professors. They could have done phenomenal work anywhere, but they all chose to teach in a small town at a small school. That's what makes Lawrence special as well, because if I ever go back in a few years, I know I'll still see some of my professors there, mentoring the next generation. Finally, I'll say a few words about Appleton. What an amazing place to spend your college years in! It's not too small and it's not too big! On top of that, everything is so cheap and everyone is so friendly. The only downside is the brutal winter where there wasn't any sunshine for such a long time, so I moved to California and will only visit when the winter is over! Enough for the reminiscing; now I need to focus on getting a job.
