The sad thing of what you share is what you said before about other campusees and will expereince everywhere. you ddint want to be around some people and yoiu overspoke how its on themasnd thats yiour fault. you may not feel the campus is for yiu and thats your fault. |
Major: Political Science (This Major's Salary over time)
Pros:ACU's strongpoint is its faculty. My professors were highly knowledgeable and helpful. I had very close friendships with some of the faculty here. The Campus is nicely maintained and pretty.Cons: No diversity whatsoever. I grew up in Abilene and was shocked when I came to ACU. Everyone is white, incredibly wealthy, from DFW/Houston,and conservative.I remember students telling me that they had never seen so many black people until they moved to Abilene,of all places/It?s very cliquey here. Before you even get to campus, cliques are already formed. Everyone knows each other beforehand. They either went to ACU camps together, are 4th or 5th generation wildcats,or went to the same church or HS.Title IX is really caring and helpful here, but prepare for a huge backlash from students if you report an assault by somebody in a social club. The social clubs here are very exclusive. Men?s clubs haze a lot. One club is known for their proclivity for drugs and sexual assault. When I was a freshmen, girls always warned us to never go to their parties because of this. But since they have a lot of connections to ACU donors, they never get in trouble. Female social clubs are based on connections. Most members are 3rd or 4th generation members. There is a lot of harassment and bullying that go unnoticed by the admin. I do not understand why a Christian university allows groups where you must be deemed worthy enough to join.Drug culture is HUGE here. Not just marijuana, but hard drugs like cocaine. The culture in general is weird here. Half of the school will judge you for missing one day of chapel and saying words like darn, and the other will pretend to be devoted Christians online, but bully others,do cocaine and other party drugs, and get drunk every night. Do what you want, but the hypocrisy here is insane. Also, like 45% of the student body is engaged or married by their junior or senior year. It?s very cliquey here.
