Overall ACU is good reputation for their academic. However, ACU has still needs to improve "not wrongly accusing someone of not attending chapel or having favortisim for certain people to be exempt from chapel probation.
Generally ACU is friendly campus. Honestly, ACU is not the type of university that has a lot of excitement or actually fun activities to keep students entertained or satisfied.
It is definitely a place for students who just want to focus on career including sports and don't mind find leisure activities in different cities.

Here's the thing about ACU. If you're wanting to go to a school and spend at least half your time doing religiously based activities, then it may work for you. I am a devout Christian, but the way ACU does things is a bit overblown. It's very political. I can best attribute it to one of those churches that looks from the outside to be very accepting, but in reality has an inordinate amount of ridiculous rules and guidelines. You really wouldn't get the full effect unless you actually attended. I honestly did student recruiting for this school for about a year, and I got a lot of people to come, but I left before graduating and won't be coming back. I'm not a big partier, and I don't get all that wild, but ACU was way too tame for me. And it breeds a mentality in it's students that's on par with a Disney channel show. That's a little too elementary for me in a college setting. If you're a person that went to a private christian high school it'll probably be ok, but if not i would definitely visit a few times and try to see how the day to day life really works. Out of everyone I lived with on my hall freshman year, there were 3 people that didn't transfer after a semester.

I'm went to a private Christian school out of Plano. I had very good grades and could have gone a lot of places. I was a pre-med major and going to ACU was the WORST mistake of my life. The education here was a joke, and I'm a Christian but if your not a closeminded Church of Christ freak like the others, then your excluded from everything!

ACU is overall is very good school. I will admit that the typical stereotype is true (rich, from DFW, drives nice cars, sperry's, northface, coach purses everywhere, preppy, church of christ, far right, knows lots of people before coming to college, and the girls dressing cute for class) but that is not the case for everyone. i probably fall more into the stereotype, but I have a lot of friends that do not. ACU does not push the church of christ and i am not CofC and i have not been seen as an outcast. a lot of people have friends before they get to ACU, but everyone that i have met is open to meeting new people. the dorms are bigger then most, and the campus and clean and beautiful and the campus cops make you feel safe. the walking track is lit and has emergency buttons along the way and the cops are always patrolling. the faculty is AMAZING! they are always there to help, and like to get to know all the students and care for them! the work for me is not too much to bear, but is still challenging. and as for abilene, it can be boring at times. but fun is what you make it. there is more to do then drink! there's plenty of fun stuff to do with friends!!
