first off, DO NOT COME HERE!!! im currently in my first semester of my second year here at UNE in the dental hygiene program. for those of you who dont know for some health majors your freshman and sophomore year youre on the biddeford campus and then junior and senior year you go to the portland campus for your clinicals and such. when i applied to this school and got accepted i was aware of this and the fact that i would be dorming in portland for my last 2 years. WELL, about 2 weeks ago i over heard people talking and stressing out about trying to find an apartment in portland because the school had gotten rid of housing and i thought to myself..no fucken way. so i e-mailed my advisor to see if this was true and she said oh yeah they got rid of housing because it was in bad shape, but thats okay because you can just get an apartment. UMM WHAT???? first of all me and my parents are not made of money and dont have extra cash lying around to get an apartment and pay for food and bills on top of paying for this 30,000 dollar school (the cost without housing). so not only have i STILL not gotten a formal letter from the school letting me know of this, but they have also done NOTHING to help me out. if i had never heard those people talking i would have never known and would have gone through out the year ready to live in portland only to find out that there is no place for me to live and by then too late to go to another school. so now on top of my stressful classes this semester im scrambling to get into some other schools so that i can continue with the dental hygiene program next year. THIS SCHOOL CARES ABOUT NOTHING BUT YOUR MONEY!! they knew well in advance that they were going to get rid of housing this year in portland and have done nothing to let their students know. if i had known this I WOULD HAVE NEVER CAME HERE! and i would have transferred last year the first week i got here and realized how shitty it is. theres nothing to do and all the girls are bitches and sluts. save yourself and seriously LISTEN TO THESE COMMENTS!!!! the only good thing about this school is the beautiful view. thats it

You still have the option of living on the Biddeford campus if you are commuting to Portland, but honestly, living off campus is a lot cheaper than living on campus at une so the Portland students actually have it a bit easier because they are not stuck on a 3 year contract like the Biddeford students are…it is well known that there are no dorms on the Portland campus and honestly dorms are more expensive than off campus living anyway. And in fact at most schools you don't get guaranteed housing on campus for 4 years.
responseI really wish this person took the time to take advantage of what the Univeristy really has to offer. I cringed while reading this because not only did the person select "not so bright" as far as their intelligence, but their grammar and knowledge about UNE.

It is true that students spend 2 years on the Biddeford Campus and 2 years on the Portland campus is they are a Pre-Pharm, Dental Hygiene, and Nursing. However, the reason why the residence halls were removed on the Portland campus was because no one showed interest in them any more. Not to mention the fact that living off campus is a LOT less expensive than living on campus. In fact, students actually prefer loving off campus. If you want to freak out about finding somewhere to live, talk to the professional staff here and your advisor; they WILL help you!

Best of luck to you Ms. Not Too Bright. Take a look at the bigger picture. Stop focusing on the negative and help your self by asking questions and getting informed. There is a lot more to UNE than just money.

Sincerely,
A good student who cares
