| NYU
is what you make of it; because it is a
large school, no one is going to take the time
to hand you the resources you need to achieve your
goals. However, if you take the initative to find
them, they are available to you. Too often students
complain about the lack of a campus or the high
tuition. However, both these facts are made clear to
prospective students, long before they come to the university. NYU
is in the middle of New York City therefore, it
does not have a campus green. In addition all
of NYU's tuition numbers are available on the website which
is very easy to navigate. There are a lot
of students who come to NYU because of its good
reputation, its well know programs, and its New York City
location and then act shocked to find out that there
isn't a football team and the dorms cost a lot
of money. A little research might help some of
these students make better choices. I always tell people
that NYU is an investment. If you are willing
and/or able to put the time, the money, and the
effort into your education at NYU, you will be more
than satisfied with the results in four years. I
know plenty of graduates who beat out their Ivy league
counterparts for jobs because of their hard work and NYU's
connections. You can't come to NYU expecting to have
a “typical” college experience, NYU and NYC force you to
grow up pretty quickly. If you are someone who
expects things to be handed to you, you should not
come here. You will most likely be disappointed, and at
the end of four years you will feel like you
have just wasted A TON of money and four years
of your life for a slip of paper and not
much else. I am very impressed by the resources
of this school, its reputation, my peers (with the exceptions
of the rich Alumna/us' children and lazy students who don't
do much else besides complain), and the faculty. If
you are willing to work hard then the sky's the
limit at NYU.
