There seems to be a major problem with athletes who come because of the scholarships without understanding the culture of the college. You will not party hard at WBC. In fact, you will probably not party at all. If you want that, you should attend a secular university or another college in a more favorable locale.

The biggest drawback of the college is the location. It is in the middle of nowhere. On the positive side, the professors are dedicated to teaching, and the cost is very low for a private college. It is actually comparable to some more expensive state schools, and it is definitely cheaper than paying out-of-state tuition at a state school.

It's a great school for ministers seeking training, so if this is your desire, you can't beat the price.

I experienced William's during my soph. year. The Art department is a dream; great instructors, plenty of resources and space, etc etc. But like William's as a whole; you do not experience anything, whatsoever outside of Williams. It is a Southern Baptist College with a definite Southern Baptist perogative. Which is fine, they pay for it, you pay for it, expect it. Do not expect to find a surmount (extremely rare) of open-minded, liberal or understanding people though. I enjoyed Williams. I would not go back however. I made some great friends and someday may look back on my Williams' days... when writing a thesis on harmless cults or something. ( Oh it is relatively affordable in comparison to other private colleges with similar academics; however, you pay for it with overpriced books, really shoddy housing)

the campus is in the middle of a field, isolated from civilization. they should film a survivor episode there.
students are discouraged from having fun, so they are forced to get married too early to fulfill their beauty, intimacy, and adventure needs that the college itself cannot provide. the professors are somewhat educated, but a variety of personalities resides within them...some are sarcastic and self-absorbed, others are the opposite. there is a "moddo" for freshman girl students that goes, "a ring by spring or your money back," insinuating that they will be married very soon. the campus minister is even in on the dating action, having dated 3 girls on campus, something that would be strictly forbidden on any other decent campus. the dean of students has even encouraged him to marry a student.
