In the sprin of 2011 I transferred to CCSU thinking that I was going to get a great education, which I did in sociology. However, upon completing all of my major requirements and minor requirements (a minor is required for most of the social sciences), I was under the impression that I was going to graduate. In the letter of denial it stated that I needed 9 credits in residency.
The problem that I have is that I was never told that I needed to complete 9 credits on campus. In other words I recieved a letter after I was under tge assumption that I had graduated. When I went to speab to the individual that I am assigned to (rRachel Davis), she was not in at the time that her hours had stated. By the way, I had needed her assistance before and again she was unavailable.
So I was then able to speak to her counter part Jack. With a tone of arrogance, her had told me that the school had sent out letters stating that I needed to take a specific class on campus for my minor. The issues that I had with that is I had alreafy transferred in 12 credits towards my minor (18 is needed). At no point was I informed that I needed to take another class to complete the technicality of being 3 credits in residency. So I had all the requirements for the minor except that I needed 9 credits to be taken on campus and I only had 6.
A little background on myself. I am a 30 year old man, who served in the Marines. I needed 121 credits and currently have 137 accepted and 164 total. I will speak very highly on those individuals in the soc department. If you want to have fun and learn something different about your surroundings then this is the path.

CCSU is good because the professors know who you are, and in (almost) half of my classes, are actually available to help during their office hours. Some professors don't care though because they're tenured so we usually get at least one horrible professor per semester.
Undergraduate programs are fairly easy to spot as very good or very poor. For example, some programs are almost completely open-ended and have minimal requirements, while others are fleshed out and very specific and incorporate work-studies.
However, at CCSU you have to keep track of your financial aid and course completion like a hawk. CCSU support staff is virtually incompetent across the board and WILL lose important paperwork regarding your billing and which courses you have completed!
Anyway, as far as campus life, there is no "campus life.? It?s a dry campus. No one who goes here has any money (half the students go here just because it's cheap).
I would guess most students graduated in the middle of their (high school) class or lower - I'm not sure how about 20% of the students were admitted, but that's how Central roles. The campus is falling apart with the exception of the two or three buildings actually built in the last 15 years.You won't get much of a "multi-cultural" experience here as about 90% of students are from Connecticut. Also NOT a research University if that's what you're looking for.
